Direct Supports Professional (DSP)
Job Overview:
The Direct Supports Professional- (DSP) reports to the Program Manager and is responsible for assisting, training, and supporting our clients. They are responsible for providing excellent services according to the client’s person-centered plan. The objective of the DSP is to assist the clients in their daily living activities and-or employment goals to positively impact each client’s growth.
The DSP provides direct services to our clients. They will assist the clients with accessing their community and by providing support services to them. Those services may include transportation, assisting with meal planning, exercising, or safety while in their community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Desire to make a difference.
- Maintain professional relationships with family members, contracting agencies, and or other stakeholders tailored to the business and client needs.
- Facilitate training sessions with the clients on various topics, including how to prepare a meal, safety in their home or while in the community, or how to access their local police and fire departments.
- Assist and support client choice and achievement in their personal goals.
- Meet with the community mental health authorities (CMH) on a regular basis to ensure quality of services, communication, and satisfaction.
- Acts as a resource to clients, including advocating, supporting, and motivating when necessary.
